What hasn't happened this week? One of the most obvious, is the so far 6 inches of snow that's dumped on us and isn't planning on slowing down anytime soon over the next week. More snow means more fun, right?! The past 2 days we've spent the majority of the afternoons outside. The boys LOVED sledding down our septic mound (our 20 acres are completely flat so it's the best we've got) and even built a snowman! I'm not sure if it's the cutest or the creepiest snowman ever, though? I'll let you decide.
It was a constant race back up the mound to go again and it was the funniest thing watching their little 'Christmas Story' selves in their marshmallow snowsuits trying to run up it. Dax was brave and even went down head first. You can see his enormous smile of excitement down below. Dean enjoyed crashing into Dax and our dog, Buck. But that's what big brothers are for, right? Haha. Needless to say, these boys were born for Michigan and would spend all day, everyday, out in the snow if they could.
The sight of their smiles and the sound of their laughter reassures me that even during my "worst" days; I'm talking, the days I want to rip my hair out because I stepped on another one of those damn hotwheel cars that I've asked them 20+ times to pick up, the days they are the reason for my gray hair because they won't eat anything besides chicken and grapes for dinner, the days my bathroom looks like a water park because they won't turn off the water after the tub's full and feel the need to splash like blue whales or even the days I have to be somewhere but end up late because they can't find their matching shoes or make up their mind which toy they "need" to take with them... They are worth it; They are my everything. I'd have to say, being a mom has been my greatest adventure thus far.
What else? Well, for years we've talked about expanding our little backyard ranch... We've had goats, pigs, ducks, geese, turkeys and chickens. Our goats we donated to a home down south that helps troubled youth by working with and caring for animals. How amazing is that? Our pigs are now in our and our local friends' freezers, but they're by far, the most delicious pork I've ever ate. I'm not just being biased either. We've always had chickens and they're my favorite. Call me "The Crazy Chicken Lady" if you will, but there's just something about chickens that make me happy. We've planned to start clear cutting our back 16+ acres in the next few weeks to welcome cattle! It's been a family affair of planning. My oldest son says, "I want 10 cows. Black cows and red cows." My husband and I are throwing around the idea of Longhorns. Eeeek! This is one of many amazing things coming our way in 2018... Stay tuned to follow The Ramblin Ranch's new chapter unfold...
